Description

Description:

Minted in 1880 from the San Francisco mint, this Morgan Silver Dollar was professionally graded in MS64 by PCGS. Like other silver coins minted before 1965, the Morgan Silver Dollar was minted using 90% silver. The first silver dollar since the passage of the Coinage Act of 1873 prohibited the minting of the Seated Liberty dollar is the Morgan Silver Dollar. It was minted from 1878 to 1904 and for a single year in 1921. The silver dollar is named after the designer, George T. Morgan and was authorized by the Bland-Allison act. The obverse of the coin depicts a left-facing Liberty while the reverse is an eagle with wings extended. The Morgan Silver dollar is an extremely popular coin in the history of the United States. A huge reserve of the coin was found in the Philadelphia Mint in 1962. Up until then the coin was thought to be rare. The unexpected find actually improved the popularity of the coin. With many different dates and varieties, the Morgan Silver Dollar is one of the most collectible coins in history.
