Description:

Introduced in 1988, the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf is one of the most respected and widely recognized silver bullion coins in the world. Launched nearly a decade after the Gold Maple Leaf series began in 1979, it made history as the first silver bullion coin issued by a major industrialized nation to feature .9999 fine silver. The 2026 1 oz Canadian Silver Maple Leaf continues this legacy of purity, craftsmanship, and global trust.

Coin Highlights:

  • 39th year of the Silver Maple Leaf series

  • Contains 1 troy oz of .9999 fine silver

  • Issued in Brilliant Uncirculated condition

  • Bears a face value of $5 CAD, backed by the Canadian government

  • Obverse features King Charles III

  • Reverse displays the iconic sugar maple leaf

  • Enhanced with a laser-engraved maple leaf privy mark for added security

The obverse of the 2026 Silver Maple Leaf features the first-generation effigy of King Charles III used on Canadian coinage. This left-facing portrait depicts His Majesty without a crown and was designed by Steven Rosati, whose work marks only the third monarch portrait created by a Canadian artist for Canada’s circulating and bullion coinage.

On the reverse is Walter Ott’s timeless sugar maple leaf design, first introduced in 1979 with the Gold Maple Leaf series. This enduring image has remained consistent across the Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Palladium Maple Leaf programs, becoming one of the most recognizable designs in modern bullion.

The sugar maple itself evolved in eastern North America during the Tertiary period, approximately 65 million years ago. As glaciers advanced and retreated over millennia, the species adapted to the temperate climates of what are now the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada, ultimately becoming a national symbol reflected in Canada’s most iconic coinage.
