While more static than the original nesting eagle scene, the 2021-present design still pulses with life thanks to its incredible realism and detail.

Surrounding the eagle are the traditional reverse inscriptions, including "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," face value, weight, and gold purity. The motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” appear above the eagle’s head, and both designer and sculptor initials are placed subtly within the design.

The obverse continues to honor Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ timeless depiction of Liberty, confidently striding forward with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. Behind her, the U.S. Capitol building sits beneath the rising sun. Since 2020, the U.S. Mint has enhanced this design to restore original details from Saint-Gaudens’ vision – including refined sun rays, a reworked Capitol dome, and more natural features in Liberty’s face and olive branch.
