The production of the Gold American Eagle coins began in 1986 after the Gold Bullion Act was passed in 1985. The U.S. government guarentees the purity and weight of each coin.

The 2024 1 oz Gold American Eagle coin features the new reverse was designed by Jennie Norris in 2021 featuring a close-up and personal perspective of our nation’s official bird. The intensity of the bald eagle’s stare and the detail in the feathering around the neck is striking.

The obverse design stayed true to the original Lady Liberty which was based on the 1907 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle.
