The kookaburra, the largest member of the kingfisher species, is a familiar visitor to residential gardens in Australia. The Perth Mint proudly introduces a collection of bullion coins showcasing the kookaburra, meticulously crafted from 99.99% pure silver. The 1 troy oz Silver Kookaburra Coin has only 500,000 1oz coins released.

Known for gathering at dawn and dusk to assert territorial boundaries with their distinctive cackling laughs, kookaburras have captivated investors since the inaugural call in 1990. The iconic silver series has maintained its allure for over three decades.

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, each coin in this series features a reverse design depicting a kookaburra in flight over a gorge with a snake in its talons. The inscription 'KOOKABURRA,' a 'P125' mintmark marking The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary, the 2024 year-date, and details of weight and purity adorn every coin.

The obverse of each coin features the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III and the designated monetary denomination. A security feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter, detectable only under a magnifying glass, is incorporated into the reverse design of each coin.

For presentation and protection, each bullion coin is encased in a protective acrylic capsule.
