Introduced in 1988 alongside the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf, the Canadian Platinum Maple Leaf from the Royal Canadian Mint makes history in 2024 as the first to showcase the new portrait of His Majesty King Charles III.

The Royal Canadian Mint kicks off its 2024 bullion lineup with the inaugural appearance of King Charles III's bust, meticulously crafted by a Canadian artist. On the obverse, the coins feature the left-profile portrait of Charles III without a crown, distinct from his predecessor, Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse side displays the iconic sugar maple leaf design, a symbol created in 1979 for the Gold Maple Leaf and consistently featured on bullion coins across various series for over 40 years.
