History of the coin:
First released in 1986 the Silver American Eagle coin quickly gained in popularity and is often considered one of the most beautiful U.S. coins minted. The obverse of the coin features the iconic Walking Liberty design created by Adolph A. Weinman. The very same design used on the Walking Liberty Half Dollar coins minted from 1916 to 1947. The reverse was redesigned by Emily Damstra in 2021 and features an eagle coming for a landing with an impressive wingspan on full display.
