South Africa proudly displays it's exceptional wildlife in these series. The "Big Five" animals, which include the elephant, lion, buffalo, rhinoceros, and leopard, are symbols and ambassadors of this country's many cultures.

The striking image of a rhinoceros appears on this gold coin's design. The words "South Africa", "Big Five 2022" and South Africa's coat of arms are also incorporated into the design. A rhinoceros' head in two mirrored images are shown on the reverse. The entire close-up portrait of a rhinoceros may be seen when two of such coins are arranged side by side. A large group of rhinoceros' may be seen by grouping numerous of these coins together.
