History of the coin:
This is the first year for a new Platinum series, the First Amendment to the United States Constitution featuring newly designed one-ounce 99.95 percent platinum proof coins. This five-year series (2021-2025) will reflect the five freedoms in the First Amendment —“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

The 2021 Platinum American Eagle coin is the first coin in the new First Amendment program series which focuses on Freedom of Religion. The Obverse design depicts a seedling and an acorn surrounded by the inscription “WITH FREEDOM OF RELIGION LIBERTY GROWS.” The reverse design for this series depicts an eagle in flight, an olive branch in its talons.
