2018 Platinum American Eagle Proof 70 Coin

History of the Coin:

The 2018 Platinum American Eagle Proof coins are redesigned and for the very first time in the history of the United States Mint a series of coins have been issued with new obverse designs with a single designer and one new reverse design.

This is the first in a new series from the U.S. Mint entitled, "Preamble to the Declaration of Independence Platinum Proof Coin Series." The obverse of the 2018 Platinum American Eagle Proof 70 coin features Lady Liberty teaching a small child to sow seeds. A sword is on the hip of Lady Liberty that symbolizes defending life. The plowed ground underneath Lady Liberty is representative of the work to sustain life. The obverse design includes a background filled with a tree and flowing stream symbolic of the importance of nature and being a good steward toward nature. To the right of Lady Liberty is the word LIFE.

The three coin series will feature the same reverse for all three coins. It's a life facing profile of the bald eagle with wings spread and an olive branch in its talons. The coin has a nominal face value of $100 that along with the weight and fineness is included on the reverse of the coin. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is also inscribed on the reverse of the Platinum American Eagle Proof 70 coin.
