Description:

The First Spouse coins from the U.S. Mint have a face value of $10 and contain 1/2 oz of pure 24 karat gold, making the metal value alone worth quite a bit on the bullion market. Since very few of the coins have been certified in perfect MS70 condition by NGC, demand has been rising and they could prove to be the type of "sleeper coins" that expert investors seek out.

Mamie Eisenhower was the first lady of the United States from 1953 to 1961 as the wife of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. President Eisenhower ran on the slogan “I Like Ike”, and while Mrs. Eisenhower participated in the campaign, buttons saying “I Like Mamie” began to appear. She was known for her lavish parties and grand Christmas decorations in the White House.  Mrs. Eisenhower passed away November 1, 1979, at age 82, in Washington, DC.

  • Obverse: Features Mamie Eisenhower
  • Reverse: features a woman's hand holding up a political campaign button with the slogan “I Like Mamie,” referring to Ms. Eisenhower's popularity as first lady, her involvement in her husband's presidential campaigns and the popular campaign slogan “I Like Ike.”
  • West Point, NY Mint
