Description:

The First Spouse coins from the U.S. Mint have a face value of $10 and contain 1/2 oz of pure 24 karat gold, making the metal value alone worth quite a bit on the bullion market. Since very few of the coins have been certified in perfect MS70 condition by NGC, demand has been rising and they could prove to be the type of "sleeper coins" that expert investors seek out.

Ida McKinley was First Lady of the United States from March 4, 1897 – September 14, 1901.  Mrs. McKinley developed epilepsy which limited her role as first lady.  Her husband President William McKinley was assassinated on September 6, 1901.  Mrs. McKinley was deeply devoted to her husband who she visited his grave daily until her death in May 1907.

  • Obverse: Features Ida McKinley

  • West Point, NY Mint
