2010 $10 James Buchanan's Liberty First Spouse MS-70 Description:

Buchanan Liberty gold coin is part of the First Spouse series that first hit the market in 2007. While the majority of our presidents have been married, James Buchanan was one of the few presidents who was not married. Since he did not have a spouse, Liberty is depicted on the obverse of this release.

This design was taken from a circulating gold coin that was in use during his time in office. This was one of the more popular designs of the First Spouse series. The reverse shows James Buchanan working in his family‚Äôs store. Additionally, the inscriptions stating the weight, face value, and fineness can be found here.

These coins have had high and low mintages. Each coins in the series is made of .9999 (24 karat) gold and weighs 1/2 troy ounce. This coin is available from our firm in a Mint State 70, graded by NGC.
