Description:

The First Lady Margaret Taylor gold coin is part of the First Spouse series that first hit the market in 2007. These coins have had high and low mintages. Each coins in the series is made of .9999 (24 karat) gold and weighs 1/2 troy ounce.

The 2009 Eliza Johnson First Spouse gold coin was struck at the West Point Mint.

The obverse features a tasteful portrait of Margaret Madison, wife of 12th President of the United States, Zachary Taylor. The portrait was designed by the US Mint's Phebe Hemphill and engraved by Charles Vickers.

Mrs. Madison was a nurse during her youth. The image on the reverse is that of her in her younger days, giving care to a wounded soldier. She is widely recalled for her compassion. Mary Beth Zeitz was the designer of this image and engraving was done by Jim Licaretz.

This coin is available from our firm in a Mint State 70, graded by NGC.
