Description:

The United States Mint introduced the Gold American Buffalo 24 karat gold coin in 2008. The design is based on the iconic 1913 Buffalo Nickel, making it extremely popular for investors and collectors. Each year, the U.S. Mint produces a limited number of proof versions of the Gold Buffalo coin, which have a highly polished finish. Coins that are graded in perfect condition receive the coveted "Proof 70" certification label.

Though the coin is usually only minted in the 1oz size with a $50 face value, in 2008 alone, the Mint created four sizes of the coin: 1/10 oz ($5 face), 1/4 oz ($10 face), 1/2 oz ($25 face) and 1oz ($50 face). The 2008 Gold Buffalo Proof-70 set includes one of each of size minted that year - all certified in Proof 70 condition.
