Description:

The Utah Legal Tender Act of 2011, paved the way for the Utah Goldback foil notes. Goldbacks are the first physical, fully-interchangeable, gold money of the new millennium. Designed for small transactions – Goldbacks accommodate payments wherever recognized as an authorized medium of exchange or barter. The Utah Goldbacks are available in five convenient denominations: 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50. One Goldback foil note contains between 1/1000 - 1/20 troy ounce of fine gold. Through the process of vacuum deposition within a proprietary polymer coating, the Goldback itself consists of 24-karat gold.

Highlights:

  • Contains 1/100 troy oz of .999 pure gold
  • Obverse design: Justitia, or Justice, is depicted wearing the period settler’s sunday best attire, and is equipped with a blindfold over her eyes and a two edged sword and scales in her hands, representing the responsibilities of impartiality, fairness, and decisiveness that Justice must use to be right and effective.
  • Made in the United States
  • Individual businesses in the state of Utah make their own call whether or not to accept Utah Goldback Gold Notes
