The pipe organ from the Musikverein concert hall in Vienna is the inspiration behind these beautifully designed coins from the Austrian Minted. The original design by Thomas Pesendorfer, was first used in a gold commemorative coin first issued in 1989. The silver version is identical to the gold version and first issued in 2008.

The reverse of the coin includes a harp, violin, cello, bassoon, French horn, and flute with the words "Wiener Philharmoniker" translated to "Vienna Philharmonic" and the German word for silver, "Silber," inscribed.

The obverse of the coin depicts a pipe organ within the Musikverein located in Innere Stadt borough of Vienna. This venue is home to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. "Republic of Austria" and "1 ounce pure silver" are inscribed in German.

The Austrian Silver Vienna Philharmonic is the most popular silver bullion coin from Europe. Each coin weighs 1 Troy ounce of .999 pure silver.
