Description:

History of the Coin:
The Gold American Eagle has been a staple in American coinage since being authorized by the Gold Bullion Act of 1985. The gold coin is minted by the U.S. Mint in four different weights, 1/4 oz., 1/2 oz., and 1 oz., in addition to the 1/10 oz. coin. Gold American Eagle coins must be minted with gold sourced from America and is backed by the U.S. government.

Augustus Saint-Gaudens was a sculptor of American Civil War heroes and is largely responsible for the obverse design of the coin. Commissioned by President Roosevelt to redesign American coinage, Saint-Gaudens delivered one of the most iconic design in the history of numismatics.

His version of Lady Liberty has flowing hair, confidently striding forward with her right foot in front of her left, holding an olive branch in her left hand and a torch in her right hand. The Saint-Gaudens Lady Liberty first appeared on a coin in 1907 and is considered by many to be the most beautiful coin ever designed.

The 2021 1/10 oz. Gold American Eagle Proof 70 coin shares many of the design elements of the 1907 coin with Lady Liberty symbolizing both freedom and hope in the torch carried in her right hand and peace as embodied by the olive branch in her left hand.

The bald eagle graces the reverse of the coin. A male bald eagle with his large, majestic wings spread wide is returning to the nest he shares with a female bald eagle and their eaglet. IN GOD WE TRUST is prominently displayed to the right of the female bald eagle while UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is placed directly above the male bald eagle.

The mirror-like finish of proof coins is the result of the gold coin being struck multiple times. It is this unique finish that differentiates proof coins from the more common bullion coins. Proof 70 is the highest grade a coin can receive. These coins considered to be in perfect condition are protected in a hard plastic slab that protects your investment that could result form handling the coin.

The U.S. Gold Bureau is proud to sell more Gold American Eagle Proof 70 coins than any other precious metals company. You can be sure that the gold coin you receive will be of the highest quality possible. The Gold American Eagle PF70 coins are available separately or in a 4-coin set.
